1. Stay Alert

First, the first action to help you fight and overcome temptation is to stay alert. Keeping alert means being aware of what causes you to be tempted, being sensitive to how easily you can be tempted, and being spiritually equipped to fight it.

Have you heard to be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walks about, seeking whom he may devour? If not, know this a way to fight temptation.

2. Pray

The final action to fight and overcome temptation is to pray. Because temptation hits us where we are most vulnerable, we cannot resist it alone (NTL, 2015). Prayer essential because our Creator’s (YHWH) strength can shore up our defenses and defeat Satan’s power.

You cannot defeat Satan, only our Creator has the power to defeat and end Satan. Our Heavenly Father destines Satan fail. The bible predicts his final defeat in John 12:31, Revelation 12:9, and 20:10. The death of Christ on the cross is the basis for Satan’s final defeat (Hebrews 2:14-15; 1 Peter 3:18, 22)(GotQuestions. org, 2018).

Do not be afraid to ask for God’s help and repent while you still have time. Pray for our Creator’s protection, so you can fight and overcome temptation.
