TL: DR A quick post glance:

  1. Overeating is what… ?
  2. Stress
  3. Constipation
  4. Indigestion

Sound juicy? Okay, Ladies. Let’s start

1. Overeating is what… ?

overeating

For starters, overeating is best defined as gluttony. Gluttony is habitual greed or eating in excess — and it’s sinful according to Bible (The Holy Mess, 2020). Not feeling convicted yet of overeating? Let me help you. Have told yourself one of the following statements (lies)?:

  • What’s a few extra helpings of (insert fave indulgence here)?
  • Everyone overeats at celebrations.
  • Just one more bite won’t hurt.
  • I will workout harder after this meal.
  • I’ll start my diet tomorrow.

Only to suffer from symptoms of overeating. Symptoms such as, but not limited to, stress, constipation, or indigestion. But don’t stress yourself out over this issue. Let’s fix it, if you are suffering from these symptoms.

2. Stress

Stress is a symptom of overeating and can cause you to devour even more unhealthy foods. Overeating to remedy stress may seem like a good idea to you — but you are adding harm to your stressed body. So what can you do instead to fight general stress and stress from overeating?

Lucky for you, a few healthy foods exist to fight stress — such as bananas, strawberries, and pears. As a warning, they are not for overindulgence — you eat them in moderation to fight stress.

Banana: Research shows bananas may play a more indirect role by shoring up the amount of serotonin the brain can produce. Bananas are a prime example of a nutritious food that may help promote the mood-boosting benefits of serotonin. Bananas are low in calories (on average around 105 calories) and contain virtually no fat (Does Eating Bananas Improve Your Mood?, 2020).

Strawberry: Strawberries help to keep your digestive system in good health. They can help to relieve stress and lower your blood pressure (iEnergize.com, 2020).

Pear: Pears have antioxidant properties, thanks to their vitamin C content. Besides vitamin C, other antioxidant compounds in pears like anthocyanins and carotenoids help fight oxidative stress and inflammation (Ramirez, 2020).

3. Constipation

overeating

Constipation is another symptom of overeating. Sometimes that last indulgence can send you into a fetal position. So what healthy foods can you eat to fight constipation caused by overeating?

Congrats, a few healthy foods exist to fight constipation — such as carrots, apples, and fresh cabbage. Again, as a warning, they are not for overindulgence — you eat them in moderation to fight constipation.

Carrot: Carrots, both raw and cooked, contain fiber. Insoluble fiber is more important for bowel health than soluble fiber. Insoluble fiber helps add shape to your stools. It moistens hard, impacted feces by binding water in the gut (Are Carrots Good for Bowel Movements? | Livestrong.com, 2020).

Apple: Researchers consider Apples one of the natural ways to treat and prevent constipation. The soluble fiber present in its skin and other essential compounds gives a laxative effect on the hard stools and enables them to move through your digestive system (Datti, 2020).

Fresh Cabbage: Researchers also derive The link between a cabbage diet and good digestive health in part from the vegetable’s colon cleansing properties. Cabbage also boosts the levels of sulfur, chlorine, and iodine in your internal chemistry. When combined, sulfur and chlorine work together as a biological tyrant on a clogged intestinal tract. This aggressiveness comes into play whether you’re eating raw cabbage or cabbage soup with a dash of salt (Cabbage Diet and Constipation • Colon Cleanse and Constipation Resource Center, 2020).

4. Indigestion

overeating

Overeating unhealthy foods can lead to indigestion. So what healthy foods can you eat to fight indigestion caused by overeating?

Woo-hoo, a few healthy foods exist to fight indigestion — such as pineapple, lemon (water), and peppermint. Again, as a crucial warning, they are not for overindulgence — you eat them in moderation to fight constipation.

Pineapple: Researchers say pineapple has a centuries-old reputation for relieving indigestion, and there are many good reasons for that. It’s one powerful fruit, containing properties for aiding both digestive health and inflammation! Fresh pineapple has bromelain, an enzyme that helps digestion by breaking down protein (Fight Indigestion and Inflammation with Pineapple, 2020).

Lemon (water): While no direct evidence exists at this point that supports lemon water to relieve your acid reflux symptoms, there is some anecdotal evidence in that direction (How to Use Lemon Water to Fight Heartburn, Acid Reflux, and More, 2020).

Peppermint: Researchers say the ancients have used peppermint in traditional folk medicine to cure indigestion, nausea, vomiting, stomach cramps, and IBS for ages. This is because peppermint has a soothing, cooling and relaxing action that helps the gut relax. It is antibacterial and antifungal, further keeping stomach infections at bay. Peppermint is a wonderful all-natural cure for non-ulcer and functional dyspepsia or indigestion (The Right Way To Use Peppermint For Acid Reflux, 2020).
